Admissions

Our school admission procedure is administered by St Helens Local Authority.
Parents should contact St Helens Local Authority for further information about arrangements for admissions.

Nursery Admissions
All children, who are three years old, are entitled to receive up to 15 hours of free, Government funded childcare per week, over 38 weeks. Children are eligible the term after their third birthday. Our Nursery operates morning and afternoon sessions, three hours daily; 15 hours per week. We also offer 30 hour places; Monday to Friday.

Session Times:
Morning only: 9.00am - 12.00pm
Afternoon only: 12.30pm - 3.30pm
30 hours: 9.00am - 3.30pm

Some children are eligible to receive 30 hours of free childcare; however, there is set Government criteria which parents need to meet to receive this. Visit the Childcare Choices wesite for information on 15 hour and 30 hour free child places for 3 & 4 year olds.

You can apply for nursery admission the term after your child's third birthday. If your child was born on or between:

  • 1 September and 31 December, you can apply for January admission.
  • 1 January and 31 March, you can apply for April admission.
  • 1 April and 31 August, you can apply for September admission.

Nursery Wrap Around Care
Our 30 hour places run from 9am- 3.30pm; Lunch is payable, via the School Gatway app, at the cost of £2.00 to pay for additional staffing costs. 

We offer a small number of places in our Breakfast Club and After-School Club. Places may be booked via the school office. The cost is £5 per hour or £8 for two hours and is paid via the school app (School Comms). Both clubs provided a small snack and the children will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of play activties.

Breakfast Club runs from 7.50am-8.50am 
After-School Club runs from 3.30pm-5.30pm.

Primary School Admissions for Reception
If your child turns four on or between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024, he or she can start primary school in September 2024.

Transferring Schools
If your child is already attending a primary school, complete an in-year transfer application form to move your child to our school. Please access St Helens Transferring Schools website for more information.


School Admissions Appeals
If your child is not offered a place at our school, you have a right to appeal against that decision. Information on how you can appeal can be accessed on St Helens Appeals website.


Our Secondary Feeder Schools
Eccleston Mere Primary School feeds into the following secondary schools: Rainford High School, De La Salle and Cowley Internation College.
