Introduction to Our School

There has been a school in the village of Eccleston since 1880. The present Eccleston Mere is a strong and vigorous offshoot of this first educational establishment, built to educate children from ages 5-14 and serving a largely agricultural community.

Our present school is a 1 form entry primary school plus 52-place nursery unit. The total number on role is about 300.

We have large, experienced staff with many outstanding abilities and talents.  Parents, visitors, members of the local community and other volunteers also add a great deal to our school.  Our links with the local high school (Rainford High Technology College) are excellent.  With high school staff supporting the work we do in a number of areas.

The school has received many awards relating to the quality of the education we provide, these include:
National Healthy Schools Award
North West and Greater Manchester Inclusion Award
European Eco School Award

Eccleston Mere has been recognised by Ofsted and the DFES on a number of occasions as an outstanding school.

At Eccleston Mere we are aware of the importance of giving our very best efforts to the education of our children and take pride in feeling that we have played some part in the development and nurturing of their thoughts, ideas and aspirations.

We are keen to link with schools world-wide to extend the links we already have with a school in Finland and many schools in the British Isles. We would like to hear from schools interested in the environment, SEN, literacy, numeracy, the arts, the humanities, sports and teacher exchange.
